“Creativity emerges from confrontations between humans and technology”
Innerfields are the artists Jakob Tory Bardou and Holger Weißflog. Born and based in Berlin, they grew up with graffiti as a major influence. Forming as a group in 1998, the artists like to reflect their environment and often realistically create figurative motifs. These motifs are then mixed with graphical elements and symbols.
The human being, both bound to nature and all-too-often opposed to it, is a major topic in their work. They see creating works of art as a profession and love taking part in festivals and various art-related projects worldwide. The main creative focus of Innerfields lies on the confrontations between humans and technology, as well as the fragile bond humankind shares with the nature that surrounds it. Innerfields want to encourage the viewer to think and critically question their own media consumption. The images are not necessarily intended to paint a negative portrait of society but rather represent snapshots of specific situations that the viewer stumbles across. It's about creating emotions from images we are surrounded with.

The piece ‘FischersNetz’ was also painted as a large mural in 2016 in Hamburg, in the backyard of a marketing agency, and features a huge fisherman tattooed with logos of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and other brands. The mural references the surroundings and flavor of the old-school Hamburg harbor that is nowadays confronted by modern industries. The figurative paintings are mainly painted with oil or wall paint and spray can when working on the streets.
