“The shadow is like an inner mirror...”
Marie Steinmann was born in 1974, in Ahausen. She studied graphic design in Hamburg and worked in animation, web design and print media. After a stay in Dubai, she moved to Berlin, where she worked for the Berlin Research Market at TU Berlin.
In 2007 she traveled to Kenya for the first time for the organization, ANNO’S AFRICA. Inspired by this trip,she founded the One Fine Day company, together with her husband Tom Tykwer. The company enables children from Kibera and the Mathare slums to practice artistic activities in the disciplines of fine arts, dance, music, acrobatics, theater and writing on a weekly basis. The film “ “There Is A Crack in Everything” was released in 2018 and records One Fine Day’s everyday work with the children.
