ONE OF MANY GREAT ARTISTS
Caro Pepe is a painter and muralist, born in Corrientes, Argentina (1980). After several years working in advertising as an art director in Buenos Aires and Madrid, she decided to concentrate full time on her art practice. This decision ultimately spurred her relocation to Berlin, in 2013. Since then, she has traveled the world painting and exhibiting in major cities throughout Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Her work is an exploration of our inner worlds and - more widely - the complex nature of human emotions and interactions; something she also looks to invoke in the viewer. Caro Pepe's distinctive “one-eyed” women look to show what a person chooses to see ultimately defines their perception of reality. “How we see the world will eventually translate into how we feel about it,” she says. Her delicately portrayed characters carry a subtle symbolism and are often suspended in a space that is absent of specific settings, or historical or geographical contexts. This helps the artist to portray a depth of emotion within that constructed reality. Caro Pepe's work is all about intimacy, a naked beating heart, a whispered truth.
