Jadore Tong was born in 1970 in Weimar and grew up in Paris and Berlin. He describes himself as an “Artist, Inventor, Designer” and has exhibited worldwide these past two decades, using Berlin as his launchpad and artistic base. Influenced by his artist parents, he made his first graffiti art on the streets of Berlin in 1987 whilst simultaneously working with paint on canvas.
His work connects painting with street art techniques and draws on many different styles and cultures. He is known for two main styles: a bold minimalism and a colorful and dreamy impressionism, or a mix of the two: something he terms “Fusion Art”. Working under the pseudonym S.Y.R.U.S. (Save Your Rich Untouchable Soul), Jadore Tong has undertaken a wide range of projects; from shirt designs, sculptures, collages on canvas, tape art installations and 3D art objects, designed interiors (such as those in the Moxy Hotels in Berlin’s Ostbahnhof and FFM Airport) and mural artworks in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district.
Jadore's original idea for this mural was to create a 'tree of life' to reflect an array of world cultures, but after some reflection on the young kids in the neighbourhood who would see the wall each day, he decided on a different theme. Wanting to create something inspirational, Jadore incorporated the words 'Unity, Peace, Love, and Wisdom' into the design, but it wasn't until he found a photograph of an Indian elephant in celebratory decoration that the idea was formed. He began sketching out the mural on paper in late 2015, and by the following year was ready to begin. After 4 weeks, and some help from local artists, the mural was complete. It was Jadore's hope that the mural would be looked on as a symbol of love. The mural remains at a basketball court beside Theodor-Wolff Park, in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. Popular with independent artists and creatives, artworks adorn many buildings in the area.
