During the last 3 years of working and living in Berlin, the Latin American artist CAROLINA AMAYA has been researching and exploring how colour affects human behaviour, and how these vibrations could be connected with erotism. She states that existence and nature is erotic.
Her work is composed of a series of different materials, experiences, spaces and light; where the inner and outer merge, resulting in a distortion of human sexual organs; in these works, one can perceive an altered or disfigured version of the body. To make this mutation evident, Amaya contrasts polygonal and organic structures that allude to the alterity of a body, outstretched in a digital and hand-made environment.
To emphasise this unusual effect, Amaya employs a palette of saturated colours and juxtaposes textures of organoleptic origin. This is why all her works should be seen as one. From drawing to installation, digital, painting or the creation of objects: all explore the same topic from different dimensions. This series of digital paintings reflect on the decision-making process between virtual sexual fantasies and physical contact.
